Carnival Celebration

Previous Next

Carnival Celebration will be a 5,200-passenger ship, and the joint largest vessel in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet with it's sister ship the Mardi Gras which launched in Febuary 2021.

First off, this is a nod back to the original MS Celebration, a true cruising classic. But there are also all those amazing times to come! When the new ship sets sail from Miami in 2022, marking Carnival’s 50th birthday, this ship will be a tribute to all the fun they’ve shared at sea.

Highlights

  • Six themed zones each with its own unique atmosphere and attractions
  • First roller coaster at sea
  • First suites-only enclave in the Carnival fleet
  • First Emeril Lagasse restaurant at sea

Zones

French Quarter: This zone, styled after New Orleans French Quarter, will be lined with new-to-Carnival bars, restaurants and music venues, including a jazz club offering live entertainment and handcrafted co*cktails. Details of the new establishments, one of which involves a new celebrity partnership.

Summer Landing: An expanded Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse will be the highlight at Summer Landing, a backyard barbecue-style space that also will feature a pool and hot tubs, a new-to-Carnival bar, a Smokehouse Brewhouse lunch counter, and an abundance of lounging space.

Grand Central: Instead of Carnival's traditional atrium, Mardi Gras will have its new Grand Central Atrium concept, an entertainment complex with three-deck-high floor-to-ceiling windows and a bar with sweeping ocean views. It's also where passengers will find expanded versions of the line's popular eateries Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki. Additional Grand Central venues will include the Punchliner Comedy Club and a revamped Piano Bar 88. The Guest Relations desk, normally an atrium staple, will be moved to Deck 8 aft.

La Piazza: In this Italy-inspired zone passengers can grab a bite at another Carnival favourite, Cucina del Capitano, as well as an all-new Mediterranean seafood restaurant. There also will be a bar selling speciality coffee (including cappuccinos) during the day and co*cktails at night, while roaming musicians will provide entertainment.

Lido: The Lido zone will be familiar to anyone who has ever sailed with Carnival before, featuring venues like Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina and the Seafood Shack, but it also will have several new-to-Carnival dining and bar concepts that will be unveiled at a later date.

Ultimate Playground: This zone will encompass the ship's top three decks with the largest water park in the fleet, along with an expanded SportSquare. This zone is also where daredevils can experience the first-ever roller coaster at sea: BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster. Bolt will offer nearly 800 feet of twists, turns and drops with riders reaching speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour. (More timid riders need not worry, you'll be able to control the speed at which you go.) The track, located about 187 feet above sea level, will run around the perimeter of Carnival Mardi Gras' top deck and include a loop around the ship's funnel. The line plans to offer the attraction to cruisers for free but said it might need to levy a surcharge if demand is too great.

Accommodations

More than 70 percent of the rooms onboard Mardi Gras will have either an ocean view or a balcony. In rooms with balconies, nearly all the balconies will have floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors.

Other room features will include sofas that "flip" into a twin-sized bed, an abundance of outlets and USB ports, more storage space, clear glass doors on the mini-fridges, larger wardrobes with pull-out bins and folding shelves, and bathrooms with glass shower doors.

Suite Living

Mardi Gras will be the first ship in the Carnival fleet to feature a new suite category -- Excel -- that includes access to an exclusive enclaved called Loft 19. There will be 32 suites that fall within the Excel category including Carnival Excel Presidential Suites, Carnival Excel Aft Suites, Carnival Excel Corner Suites and Carnival Excel Suites.

Loft 19 will feature a full-service bar and a private pool surrounded by lounge chairs, as well as cabanas available for rent. The cabanas will be fully stocked with beverages, robes, chilled towels, fresh fruit and lunch delivery, among other perks.

Other Mardi Gras suite categories will include Ocean Suites, Havana Suites, Family Harbor Suites and Cloud 9 Spa Suites, similar to those found on other ships. None of these will include access to Loft 19.

Dining

Free

Big Chicken Restaurant: Created by Carnival's Chief Fun Officer and NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal, Big Chicken Restaurant will make its at-sea debut on Carnival Radiance in April 2020, but will also be found on Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration when it launches. On Celebration, the venue will be located on the Lido Deck, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner with items Shaq himself developed -- in partnership with his mom.

Street Eats: An open-air eatery with three themed kiosks offering fried, steamed and plancha (skillet) options representing a variety of global cuisines. The grab-and-go venue will have a daily rotating menu of small-plate items, such as empanadas or falafel at the fried station; bao buns or shumai at the steam outlet; and kebabs or satay at the plancha kiosk.

Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina: No Carnival ship would be complete without a Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina, and best of all, the Guy's Burger on Mardi Gras & Carnival Celebration will be the largest in the fleet.

Extra Fee

Emeril's Bistro 1396: The first restaurant at sea to be created by Emeril Lagasse, Emeril's Bistro 1396 will be located in the ship's French Quarter, as befits its Cajun cuisine. The 66-seat a la carte bistro will offer all-day dining starting with breakfast; think shrimp and grits or a shrimp Creole omelette. Lunch and dinner options will include muffuletta sandwiches, ceviche, poboys, roasted duck and Andouille sausage gumbo, jambalaya and Emeril's signature barbecue shrimp. Sides and desserts will also be available.

Rudi's Seagrill ($38 per person): Helmed by Rudi Sodamin, Holland America Line's master chef (Holland America is a sister brand to Carnival Cruise Line), Rudi's Seagrill will feature a selection of seafood items, many of which will be presented on the plate in the form of food faces, an art form that Chef Sodamin has been mastering for several years.

Seafood Shack: Open for lunch and dinner, this grab-and-go New England-inspired venue offers a variety of fried and steamed seafood options.

Bars

RedFrog Tiki Bar: Replacing the RedFrog Rum Bar that's found on other Carnival ships, this two-level South Pacific-themed bar offers rum-based co*cktails in an island-inspired atmosphere that's decked out with tiki heads and vibrant colours. Drink options will include such rum-soaked choices at Polynesian Punch, Red's Rum Runner Jumper and Jungle Bird -- all presented in pineapples, souvenir tiki glasses or Mai Tai glasses.

The Watering Hole: Located within The Patio at Summer Landing, The Watering Hole offers a wide beer selection, including Carnival's owned canned and draft beers, as well as summer-inspired co*cktails like the Watermelon Cooler and Tequila Sunset.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse: Carnival's third brewery at sea, this spot will offer an assortment of the line's ParchedPig craft beers brewed on-site, along with free barbecue at lunch and an expanded extra-fee dinner menu. It will also feature a stage for live music.

Brass Magnolia Bar: Located in the French Quarter, this watering hole will feature decor inspired by New Orlean's Garden District and jazz culture, with brass instruments and a bold gold bar with lush greenery. As befits a French Quarter bar, Brass Magnolia Bar will feature live jazz and classic co*cktails.

Fortune Teller Bar: Another French Quarter bar, the Fortune Teller evokes the magic of New Orleans' with hand-crafted co*cktails served with a twist, whether it's a colour changing drink or one that bubbles and shimmers. The co*cktail menu will feature drinks with names like the Abracadabra, the Golden Galaxy and the all-black New Moon.

Sports Bar: Located in Summer Landing, this bar will feature both indoor and outdoor TV screens.

For those who flock to waterparks just ready to make a splash, we’d suggest sliding on over to WaterWorks aboard Carnival Celebration. Three large-scale spiralling slides, a giant dumping bucket, twin racing slides and more — you know, the works — are all practically overflowing for your hydro-delight. When you spot the slides onboard you’ll see that they mean business… though we recommend checking them out from the inside.

On Carnival Celebration, you’ll find the Havana Bar & Pool. Good find — the pool’s an exclusive retreat to paradise by day, and the bar becomes a hot dance spot when the sun goes down. Grab a seat at the bar and order up a handcrafted Cuban co*cktail like a traditional daiquiri or classic mojito. This bar is just steps from the pool, whose ocean view and atmosphere mingle with the bar’s owner, for a bit of that old-time Cuban resort flavour.

When was the last time you got up and grooved… at the theatre? Playlist Productions takes songs you know and presents them like never before. Multi-talented performers absolutely bring down the house with song, dance… and superstar attitude. Each show has a different theme — and of course, a completely different playlist! Put your hands together for Soulbound’s New-Orleans-flavor R&B-style mysticism, Celestial Strings’ unique take on classical music (giving it a beat!), the classic-Latino sizzle of Amor Cubano… plus you’re definitely welcome to Prohibition-era-jazz-meets-modern-hits at Vintage Pop. All shows enhance the performance with stunning visual effects, but some even include a live band on stage! So get ready for heartfelt emotions, straight-up bouncy fun, or something in-between — all types are welcome to get down here.

Carnival Celebration has its own Punchliner Comedy Club in the Grand Central zone, and up on stage, you’ll find some real pros who know how to wedge a little laughter into anyone’s evening. You can count on these comedians to not hold back either. Since some of them get up and say exactly what’s on their mind, we also schedule family-friendly performances… so the only red faces in the audience are from laughing a little too hard.

Whether it’s casual munching or sit-down elegance you’re hungry for, Carnival can’t wait to throw open the doors and share all of these dining options with you.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse | Brewhouse - With choices like brisket, sausage, baby back ribs and dry-rubbed chicken, our pros do the smoking right there over hickory wood before serving them up at your table. You’re in Guy Fieri’s house — Mardi Gras has Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse | Brewhouse. Now about the brews: this house of BBQ tradition doesn’t just satisfy your hunger — you’ll also enjoy our all-new, exclusive line of Parched Pig™ craft brews. There’s a smoked porter, a farmhouse ale, a hoppy IPA and a toasted amber, all brewed just feet from your table… and nowhere else in the world. Tip: Come by and check out the free menu at lunchtime, plus live music and a lively atmosphere all day.

Guy's Burger Joint - We call Carnival Celebration's onboard burger spot Guy’s Burger Joint. We teamed up with Guy Fieri to design not just the burgers and fries, but to help bring in the kind of rustic atmosphere you’d find at a roadside burger shack somewhere off a coastal highway. All signs point to the ambience — and serious flavour — so try a burger dressed up the way Guy likes it, or take it off-roading… to the nearby topping bar, where you can make it your own.

Bonsai Teppanyaki - It’s a meal, a performance, and it’s definitely unforgettable. The Bonsai Teppanyaki experience is set to delight guests aboard Carnival Celebration. Take a little time out of vacation to sit down to a selection of tempting appetizers, before your chef prepares the main course featuring selections of meats, tofu, fish, shrimp or lobster… right at your table. In the teppanyaki tradition — and Carnival’s tradition of fun — expect an interactive, satisfying meal full of surprise and delicious delight.

Bonsai Sushi - So maybe you’ve had sushi before, but have you tried it at Bonsai Sushi? This is Carnival’s onboard seafood-and-soy-sauce spot, and we think you’ll enjoy our latest location, aboard Carnival Celebration. Dine indoors or out amidst carefully-pruned bonsai trees, while enjoying a delectable menu with sit-down service. Rounding out the meal: soups, sides, sakes and desserts. So the next time you’re taking a stroll down the onboard promenade, stop at Bonsai Sushi for a roll, a box or maybe order a whole sushi ship — seaborne satisfaction for two.

Seafood Shack - A good seafood dish… mmm, quite the catch. However you like yours — roll, bowl or platter — Seafood Shack is Carnival Celebration's place for you to cast your net. Imagine a seaside spot in New England, where the locals gather for great meals served with a bit of a breeze and a lot of a view. (That said, nowhere on land will you get 360-degree ocean views like ours!) Look to Seafood Shack for rustic favourites like Crab Cake Sliders, Lobster BLT, Fried Buffalo Shrimp, Snow Crab and more. Steer a course for Mardi Gras... that’s where you’ll find this little shack by the sea, wherever in the world you happen to be!

Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse - Haute cuisine meets atmosphere at Fahrenheit 555, a dining experience that stands toe-to-toe with some of the best steakhouses on land. Except this one’s at sea — aboard Carnival Celebration. Ours features your choice of steak cuts, lobster, lamb and more… and inside, there’s even a full bar that pours great pairings. Outside, there’s seating for dining al fresco. These are the building blocks of an amazing experience — delectable elements that combine with great service to offer an evening to remember.

The Chef's Table - When you cruise on Carnival Celebration, make sure to reserve a seat at The Chef’s Table. At this small gathering of foodies, you’ll indulge in a cascading series of delectable plates as our chef… honestly, kind of shows off a little! And that’s a great thing for guests gathered around the table for dinner. Close your eyes as you savour a series of courses for the main event, but prepare to have them opened during a galley tour — a behind-the-scenes appetizer event that offers a look at where all that magic gets prepared.

Jiji Asian Kitchen - A modern restaurant inspired by a millennia-old society, JiJi Asian Kitchen on Mardi Gras serves up enticing dishes in an eclectic space that brings not just good food — but also good fortune — to the table. You’ll enjoy your meal among Asian prayer rolls and Mongolian-inspired fabrics in this unique culinary experience. JiJi offers a full-service menu featuring a mix of exotic and familiar dishes designed to challenge and delight your senses.

Cucina Del Capitano - At Cucina del Capitano on Mardi Gras, who you’ve got gathered around the table is truly as important as what’s being served there. At our table you’ll enjoy delicious Italian favourites — we serve them family-style because we know that sharing large plates and sharing tales of your day’s adventures goes hand-in-hand. Speaking of which, our walls are adorned with old snapshots from our officers’ family albums, proving that the rustic Italian farmhouse atmosphere definitely isn’t for show.

Blueiguana Cantina - BlueIguana Cantina is Mardi Gras’s onboard taco-and-burrito place, featuring freshly-made Mexican faves. Because BlueIguana is all about you, we’ll make it with the ingredients you choose — tell us which meat, veggies, rice and beans you’re in the mood for — and then we’ll hand it over to you for the finishing touches. Here, that means a detour to the salsa bar to fire it up... or if you’re not feeling the heat, that’s cool too. Any way you dress it, expect a meal that’s suited up to satisfy you.
